APPLICATION:
Radial Shaft Seals are used to seal rotating elements, especially in dynamic applications such as:
Crankshaft, gear boxes, gear pumps, transmission, hydraulic motors and pumps.
Shaft Seals (RSS) are mainly used for sealing fluids, grease, oil mist or other materials. However, they can also be designed for dry-working applications.
THE TYPICAL COMPONENTS OF SHAFT SEALS ARE:
- The seal lip: made of elastomeric material, consists of a flexible membrane ending in an edge designed to completely wrap the shaft.
- The Metal Body: Designed to provide rigidity around the seal for a firm and stable assembly with its housing chamber.
- The garter spring: acts as a complementary part in order to ensure continuous pressure and contact between the seal lip and the rotating shaft.
MATERIAL:
For most applications, radial shaft seals are manufactured with NBR or FKM Viton®, however, other polymers/materials such as H-NBR, ACM, EPDM, and VMQ Silicone are available for other industrial applications.
